Allied Arts is partnering with The Steinway Society at Georgia Military
College for an exciting "Holiday Celebration" featuring Joe Gransden on
Thursday, December 10. Jazz artist and trumpet player Joe Gransden and his
16 piece orchestra will perform a variety of holiday favorites. The concert
will begin at 7:00 pm in the Goldstein Center for the Performing Arts,
followed by a coffee and dessert reception with the musicians. Advance
tickets are $15.00 each and will be available at Allied Arts, 201 North
Wayne Street or at the GMC Office of Development, 431 South Jefferson.
Tickets, if available, will be $20.00 at the door the night of the
performance. Student tickets are $10.00 each.
Joe Gransden has performed worldwide and released four CDs. Renowned first
for the hard bop approach of his trumpet, Gransden's singing voice has been
compared to that of Chet Baker and Frank Sinatra. Gransden and his jazz
quintet received standing ovations when they performed during "A Summer
Celebration" at GMC in June of this year. Gransden is from just north of
Manhattan, New York but now calls Atlanta home. Coming from a family of
musicians, Joe's introduction to music came early on through his father,
also a gifted singer and pianist. His grandfather was a trumpeter of merit,
playing professionally his whole life throughout New York. Gransden says, "
I will assemble some of the finest musicians in the southeast for this
special holiday concert in Milledgeville."

A metro-Atlanta native, Kayla Taylor grew up singing standards in the school chorus and gospel tunes in the choir. Everything else she sang in the shower . . . . . as loud as possible! She has many vocal heroes but among them are Julie London, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Peggy Lee . . . to keep it interesting, you could add to the mix Patsy Cline, Pat Benatar and Bette Midler. It’s the eclectic nature of her influences that give her a unique and sassy style of entertaining the many audiences she is fortunate to perform for. Kayla has performed country, gospel, R&B and classic and original rock ‘n’ roll but is proud to make her home in the wonderful world of jazz standards from the 40s & 50s with her combo, Kayla Taylor Jazz.
